KVLU is happy to announce the debut of 2 new programs in our weekly lineup this summer beginning June 4, 2016: Travel with Rick Steves airing on Saturdays at 11am and Sunday Baroque airing Sundays at 2pm.

Travel with Rick Steves is a lively one-hour mix of guest interviews and listener calls that goes beyond the Europe that Mr. Steves is famous for, with shows covering travel and cultures across every continent.

The author of 30 travel guidebooks and longtime host of the “Rick Steves’ Europe” TV series, Steves was attracted to radio because of its ability to interact with listeners in ways that TV cannot.
“Radio provides a virtual café for travelers to meet up, sharing tips, insights and discoveries,” says Steves. “On my radio show, rather than being the tour guide, as I am on TV, I get to host the coming together of experts on various cultures and travel themes with our callers and listeners. Serving as the conduit for all this exciting travel information comes with a downside: now I want to travel everywhere our radio show does.

Sunday Baroque. Fresh. Essential…for a Sunday state of mind. It’s the perfect accompaniment for this unique day of the week, whether you’re sleeping in, joining family and friends for a leisurely brunch, going to worship, or relaxing alone with the Sunday paper and a steaming mug of coffee.

couchSunday Baroque is a 2-hour celebration of beloved music from the Baroque era (1600-1750) and the years leading up to it. Some of the greatest hits of the baroque include Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Concertos, George Frideric Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks and Water Music Suites, and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. You’ll hear their tuneful and lively music – and music by their talented contemporaries and predecessors – as part of the mix of familiar favorites and new surprises on this weekly radio program.
